There is nothing like being able to paint to your heart's content on a smooth surface. With water-colouring, this can be challenging. Watercolour paper that is less than 425gsm will buckle when wet, warping the paper and making it difficult to control the flow of paint. To avoid this, use watercolour masking tape to tightly stretch the paper. This gives you the perfect base for your watercolour painting.

You can stretch watercolour paper by soaking it and placing it on a hard surface, for example, a wooden board. Then, tear and wet your tape and put it carefully on the paper and the board. Once the paper and tape are dry again, the result is a tautly stretched work surface. When your watercolour painting is ready, cut the masking tape loose with a sharp knife. This roll of watercolour tape is 25 mm wide and 50 m long.
