What is Mod Podge Gloss?
Mod Podge Gloss, like all other types of Mod Podge, is actually an all-in-one glue, sealer and finish. The difference between the three classics (Matt, Gloss and Satin) lies in the finish. Mod Podge Gloss dries glossy, while Mod Podge Matte has a matt finish. Mod Podge Satin is a little in between in terms of finish: it's less glossy but not matt either.
Mod Podge Gloss vs Matte
Which one is better, Mod Podge Gloss or Mod Podge Matte? The answer is simply that one is not better than the other. The effect is exactly the same. It is purely a matter of taste. Do you prefer a shiny or a matt finish for your decoupage project?
What do you use Mod Podge Gloss for?
You can use Mod Podge Gloss for glueing, but you can also use it for all your decoupage projects. The possibilities are endless. For example, glue paper to wood, give your furniture or home decor a new look, decorate glass vases or jars, and transfer images from beautiful napkins or magazines to other surfaces such as wood, canvas or fabric. Do you want to use Mod Podge Gloss as a sealer? Then apply several thin layers and wait an hour before applying the next layer.
Tip! For an ultra-smooth result, carefully sand away any irregularities with very fine sandpaper after each layer has dried.
Which Mod Podge for diamond painting?
Mod Podge Gloss is ideal to use as a sealer for your diamond painting. To maintain the brilliant effect of the diamond painting, there are two different formulas that we recommend. The first is Mod Podge Super Gloss. You can apply this with a brush or use the Brush Applicator. The latter is especially useful for this because it's a nice wide brush. The second one is the Mod Podge Spray Ultra Gloss. The advantage of this formula is that you do not need a brush at all. Spray it on your diamond painting and you're done!
For which surfaces is Mod Podge Gloss suitable?
Mod Podge Gloss can be used on almost every surface such as paper, paper mache, wood, glass, polystyrene, foam sheets, (some) plastics, canvas, fabrics, ceramics, metal and much more. When in doubt, we recommend always doing a test first by applying some Mod Podge to a small area. Give it enough time to dry to determine if the material is suitable for your decoupage project.
Mod Podge Gloss can be used on all surfaces but certain projects might require specific characteristics so Mod Podge has a wide range of formulas. For example, you can use Mod Podge Gloss with fabrics, but when fabrics are the base, it's better to use Mod Podge Fabric. This is because this formula makes your project washable. And if you're working on an outdoor project, choose Mod Podge Outdoor.

Is Mod Podge Gloss waterproof?
No, Mod Podge Gloss is not waterproof. Although the Mod Podge products are water-resistant, your decoupage projects will not remain beautiful after long periods of contact with water. You can clean Mod Podge projects with some water or a damp cloth. For example, if some fluids are spilt on Mod Podge coasters, you can wipe them clean with a cloth without any problem. But you can't leave the coasters in a bucket of water or outside in the rain. The same goes for Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe. This formula is often used for decorating mugs and placemats. Even though they can go into the dishwasher (on the top rack), they are still not 100% waterproof. But for decoupage projects that have to withstand a little water, Mod Podge Gloss is ideal!
Does Mod Podge Gloss dry up transparent?
Yes, Mod Podge Gloss dries completely clear, no matter what material you use it on. When you apply Mod Podge, it looks milky. But don't worry, it will be fully transparent once it's completely dry. Sometimes Mod Podge doesn't dry clear. This can happen after too much Mod Podge was applied, if it was applied too thick, if you applied layers on top of each other without properly drying in between or if you're drying projects in humid or freezing climates. For best results, apply several thin layers.
What types of Mod Podge Gloss are there?
Mod Podge Gloss is available in various sizes, from 59 ml to 3.78 l. There are also other gloss formulas. We've listed them here for you:
