1
For this DIY project, use a multipack of felt in green tones and choose four different shades. For this example, we’ve left out the olive green.
2
Using a guillotine cutter, cut squares from the felt: start with the darkest shade and make 2 x 2 inch (5 x 5 cm) squares, then the next lightest shade at 1.6 x 1.6 inch (4 x 4 cm), a lighter shade at 1.2 x 1.2 inch (3 x 3 cm), and finally, the lightest shade at 0.8 x 0.8 inch (2 x 2 cm). You’ll need eight squares of each colour for one Christmas tree.
3
Use a hole punch to make holes in the centre of each square.
4
Cut a piece of jute cord and make a loop at one end.
5
Thread the felt squares onto the twine, tying a small knot after every two squares to add a bit of volume.
6
Continue threading until all squares are on the twine. Slightly tilt each one to create a layered tree effect.
7
At the top, make a loop and a knot, trimming any excess twine. Your felt Christmas tree is now ready!
